Harley Softail Frame

When you hear the word 'Softail' you automatically think of a Harley Motorbike, it is as if they invented the term, and well, that is because they did! Although many other bikes come in the Softail design it was Harley-Davidson which coined the phrase. The Harley-Davidson Softail concept was originally thought up in the early 1970's and the first Softail Motorbikes went on sale in 1984.

So, what is a Softail Motorbike? Basically a Softail is a motorbike which is made to look like a normal hardtail bike but with the added benefit of hidden rear suspension. The Harley-Davidsons which come with Softail frame are: Softail Standard, Custom, Springer Softail, Heritage Softail, Heritage Springer, Night Train, Deluxe, Deuce, Fat Boy, and the Dark Custom Crossbones. The Harley-Davidson Softail are unique in the fact that they are the only range of Harley-Davidson bikes to come with a choice of front suspensions, they also do not have rubber mounted engines but instead use a counterbalanced version of the twin cam engines.

The Harley-Davidson Softail Motorbikes make for a superb ride and allows you to still have the mean look of a 'hardtail' chopper bike but with all the comfort which rear suspension brings, you really can't go wrong with one of these, they are especially good as an introduction to Harley's.
